Bradley Group completed asbestos removal & demolition of the former fire station and engineering buildings at Blackpool Airport.

Bradley Group has successfully completed the meticulous removal of asbestos from the former fire station and engineering buildings situated at Blackpool Airport. Following the safe and environmentally responsible removal of hazardous materials, the company undertook the complete demolition of the structures.

This phase of the project was executed with precision, ensuring that all remnants of the buildings were properly dismantled. Once demolition was finalised, Bradley Group carried out an extensive site clearance operation, ensuring that the area was left clean, free from debris, and fully prepared for any potential future redevelopment. The entire project was conducted in strict compliance with UK safety regulations, underscoring Bradley Group’s unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards in both environmental management and construction services.

Future of Blackpool Airport

Future plans for the site include its redevelopment as a key component of the new Digital Knowledge Quarter, which aims to transform the area into a hub for innovation and technology. The redevelopment will contribute to the growth of the local economy by attracting new businesses, creating job opportunities, and fostering a vibrant digital community.

Demolition in coordination with air traffic control

During the project, working air-side required close coordination with air traffic control on a daily basis to ensure the safety of ongoing airport operations. This constant communication was essential to manage the flow of construction activities without disrupting flights or compromising safety standards.

In addition to the primary tasks, the project also involved a range of supplementary works. These included the supply and erection of secure site hoarding to protect the area and ensure safety throughout the duration of the works. Groundwork for the car park was also undertaken, preparing the area for future use and ensuring that the infrastructure was in place to support the planned development. The combination of these efforts reflects a comprehensive approach to site management and redevelopment, aligning with the broader vision for the area’s transformation.
