Inspiring Future Trades: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Demolition

Preston Learners Get First-Hand Look at Ribble Heights Demolition

We were delighted to recently host a visit to our ‘Ribble Heights’ site in Preston, where we were demolishing five blocks of flats which no longer served the community.

The visit welcomed learners from Preston Vocational Centre who are studying bricklaying, plastering, and other trade skills, offering them a first-hand look at the demolition process.

Accompanied by the Bradley team and our Quality Manager, Maire, the students were given a guided site tour, providing valuable insights into the industry. Discussions covered key aspects of demolition, including pre-construction requirements, daily operations, health and safety obligations, and the essential plant and machinery used on-site.

PVC Centre Manager, Martin Grayston, said:

It’s so important that we give our students these vital opportunities to see real-life situations and speak to experienced tradespeople who are doing these jobs day in, day out.

Site visits like this provide invaluable lessons, from understanding health and safety protocols to learning about site setup and management

The learners thoroughly enjoyed it, and they’ve all told me what a great experience it was. I’d like to say a huge thank you to Community Gateway and Bradley Demolition Ltd for this amazing opportunity.

We want to engage more young people into the demolition industry and visits like these are a great way to inspire the next generation. We’re proud to share our expertise and promote best practices, helping to shape the future workforce of our industry.
